Description
So, this is your typical Fire Red beginner’s ROM hack. I made it in the fashion of Smith’s Pokemon Legacy series and used quite a lot of his updates to Gen 1&2 to re-tweak this. Examples: I updated stats for the likes of Beedrill, changed cut to be a BUG type move, but also included a few of my own changes. Golduck is now a Water/Psychic, Butterfree is Bug/Psychic, Ledian is Bug/Fighting with some new moves added to it’s moveset to go along with these changes.
I also made all of Pokemon in Gen 3 available to the player, I kept all story fights vanilla (meaning Gyms, Giovanni and Elite 4), tweaked how Blue works, and changed trainers on Routes to match the new wild Pokemon so you’re not always battling the same things over and over even Team Rocket grunts got a face lift. I also tweaked the Sevii Islands to feel more “post game” by making the Pokemon there stronger.
Features
- Trade evolutions evolve by special item “Link Stone” bought in
Celedon department store with all other evolution items
(DeepSeaTooth, DeepSeaScale, Upgrade, and Dragon Scale). - Every Pokemon from Gen 3 is available throughout Kanto! And I
tried really hard to make them make sense, to really freshen up Kanto
and give players a bigger variety for challenges or whatever. - Moved Moltres back to Victory Road.
- The Sevii Islands levels are much more “postgame” as far as wild
encounters go, following the same philosophy I used for Kanto. - Added the Johto Legendaries (Ho-Oh, Lugia, Raikou, Entei, Suicune,
and Celebi) to the Sevii Islands. (See Encounters document for full
list of where to find ‘em all.) - Added Mew to Cerulean Cave.
- The Hoenn Legendaries are acquired from in game trades. (See
below) - Reworked Blue so that he shows growth throughout his journey.
- Added a new Pokemon to each member of the Round 2 teams of
Elite 4 so now they all have 6 (may rework later for more of a
challenge). - Fixed Nidorina and Nidoqueen so they can breed. I’ve never really
understood why they were locked out to begin with… - Fixed all trade evolutions to evolve by other means. (See list below)
- Added all evolution items to Celadon Department Store F4.
- Added Rare Candy, PP Up, and PP Max to Celadon Department Store
F5 Vitamin guy (lowered prices of all of that to $1 as well). - Rocket Game Corner Coins prices are now 1,000 for 250 coins and
10,000 for 2,000. I know. It’s still a rip off, but it’s still Team Rocket.
(Also all hidden coins are 250 per find!) - Masterball is purchasable in Indigo Plateau (it’s not free though!)
- Tweaked some stats, types, and moves for some Pokemon… See list
below. - Moved the Legendary Pokemon into breeding categories, not sure
if this will make them “breedable” so I recommend using Ditto if you
want to experiment. I certainly will. - Gym Leader rematches are available after you beat the Elite 4, except
for Giovanni for story reasons. - Black/White Repel system (asks to use another once it runs out).
- Fixed National Dex evolutions
- Vitamins can get your EV’s to the 252 limit in any stat rather than the usual 100.
- Made sure Mew will obey.
- Gain EXP for catching a Pokemon.
- Gain full EXP when Pokemon participates in battle (easier switch training)
- Reusable TM’s and deletable HM’s.
- You can now survive poison in the overworld with 1HP.
Evolutions and Misc. Changes
- Metapod was given Tackle and Harden as level 1 moves.
- Butterfree is now Bug/Psychic to be set apart from Beautifly more.
- Kakuna was given Poison Sting and Harden as level 1 moves.
- Nidorina is now in Monster/Field breeding category.
- Edited Nidoqueen’s Shiny pallet to resemble that of Nidoking,
because I hated that green on her. Also gave her breeding ability by
putting her in Monster/Field category. - Golduck was made a Water/Psychic type.
- Poliwhirl evolves to Politoed via Sun Stone
- Kadabra evolves to Alakazam at level 36
- Machoke evolves to Machamp at level 42
- Graveler evolves to Golem level 42
- Haunter evolves to Gengar at level 42
- Slowpoke evolves to Slowking via Moon Stone
- Onix evolves into Steelix via max friendship
- Seadra evolves into Kingdra via max friendship
- Scyther evolves into Scizor via max friendship
- Eevee evolves into Espeon via Sun Stone
- Eevee evolves into Umbreon via Moon Stone
- Porygon evolves into Porygon2 via max friendship
- Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, Lugia, and Ho-Oh have been moved
into Flying Breeding category. - Mewtwo has been moved into Human like breeding category.
- Mew, Celebi, and Jiriachi have been moved into Fairy breeding
category. - Bayleef/ Meganium are now Grass/ Dragon because I liked what it
did in Crystal Legacy. - Tweaked Cyndaquil line’s shiny sprites to match the Gen 2 versions
colors. (I liked those better. Purple fire just looked amazing.) - Quilava/ Typhlosion are now Fire/ Ground because I liked what it did
in Crystal Legacy. - Croconaw/Feraligatr are now Water/Dark because I liked what it did
in Crystal Legacy. - Yanma was made into Bug/Dragon and given Dragonbreath as a
STAB move at Lv34. - Raikou, Entei, Suicune are now in the Monster/Field breeding
category. - Silicoon was given Tackle and Harden as level 1 moves.
- Cascoon was given Poison Sting and Harden as level 1 moves.
- Feebas evolves into Milotic by Friendship (because I think having it
bond makes more sense than just making it level up while with a
trainer) Clamperl evolves into Huntail via Sun Stone - Clamperl evolves into Gorebyss via Moon Stone
- Regirock, Regice, Registeel are now in the Mineral breeding category.
- Kyogre has been moved to Water2/ Dragon breeding category.
- Groudon has been moved to Monster/Dragon breeding category.
- Rayquaza has been moved to Flying/Dragon breeding category.
- Latios and Latias have been moved to Dragon breeding category.
- Deoxys has been moved to Amorphous breeding category.
Known Bugs
- For some reason, legendary Pokemon no longer leave the overworld
unless you run for them (still haven’t figured out how I managed that,
but it’s great for shiny hunting I suppose) - Pokedex entries for non-Kanto pokemon don’t show, apparently my
national dex didn’t work as intended…) but you can evolve non
Kanto Pokemon and friendship evolutions. - DO NOT try and talk to Ho-Oh after you battle him on Mt. Ember! It
will soft lock your game. This is an after effect of the legendaries no
longer vanishing after battle. Like I said, not sure what I did. It’s just an
odd quirk. (The Sacred Ash is in the dead end just before Ho-Oh.)
