Churchyard plan Grave surroundings in Breaston churchyard are to be sunken so the grass can be mown without damage to the mowers. Coun. David Johnson said at the parish council meeting, on Monday repairs to had proved costly after they had kept hitting the curbstones while trying to the graves. After negotiations with the parochial church council it was decided to sink the roundings below ground level and put grass over them. Retired Mr. John Eite has retired after 46 years of unbroken service to Slack and Parr the Kegworth engineering firm. Mr. Eite of Ashby Road, Kegworth, joined the company in January, 1934 as capstan operator and in 1939 became a setter.

In 1959 he was promoted to shop foreman being. responsible for the chemical and tile division's production and in 1965 was made. production manager responsible for all Kegworth production. In 1970 he filled the vacant position of works manager and in 1979 he was made chief executive of Slack and Parr (Enniskillen) Ltd. In the 1950's and 1960's he devoted a of time to the company's cricket team.
